What it counts
Every transaction confirmed in a block that day, as recorded by our node.
Each block lists its transactions, and the chart adds them up for every block mined on a UTC day. The first transaction in each block is the coinbase, which pays the miner, so it is included in the count. On Oct 14, 2026 the total was 803.84 K, and the busiest day on record was 927.01 K on Apr 23, 2024.
What a transaction is
One transaction can pay one person or many, so the count is not a count of payments.
A transaction spends one or more earlier outputs and creates new ones. Exchanges and wallets often batch many payments into a single transaction, and a wallet can also merge many small outputs into one. The chart counts transactions as the chain records them, not people or payments.
How it’s counted
Every block, bucketed by UTC day and summed. No smoothing.
Our node records each block's transaction count. The chart groups blocks by UTC day with date_trunc('day', timestamp) and plots the plain sum, with no interpolation and no moving average. A day holds about 144 blocks when they arrive every 10 minutes, so a day with fewer or more blocks changes the total on its own. The day in progress is left out until it closes, so the latest point is always a full day.
